A New York City Pier 17 Proposal

This New York City Pier 17 proposal was sweet and romantic! It was a rainy afternoon when Anthony proposed to Yanira, which made for some beautiful photos. Read all about the day and their story here.

How they met and about their first date

Anthony: “We met through a coworker of mine who went to school with Yanira. We met on a night out in July 2019 and started dating in December 2019. Our first date was shortly after we met. We had drinks at a wine bar in the East Village then went to get Bao together.”

What they love to do together

“We love our dog Maya, we spend a lot of time with her taking her to the dog parks and for walks. We also like going out to dinner (Omakase is one of our favorite genres) and going out to drinks with our friends. Dream Baby in the East Village is a special place for us because that is where we first kissed after we met.”

Why Yanira is so special to Anthony

“She’s strong and independent, we never fail to make each other laugh. She’s a great dog mom and I enjoy all of our time together, even if we’re just sitting on the couch doing our own things. We love to spend time together.”

That is super sweet!

Why Anthony choose this place to propose

“We like to walk our dog around the pier after taking her to the dog park. We like walking around Pier 17 to see if there are any shows playing, to people watch and to grab a drink at one of the bars there. It is the cultural center of where we had our first apartment together.”

The rain and haze actually made it even more romantic.

That moment Anthony knew Yanira was the one

“Pretty early in our relationship, we went on a trip to St. Thomas for a week. During the trip (in March 2020) we kept hearing the rumblings that Covid was starting to hit the United States. At first we were afraid that we would not be able to make it back and be stuck there. But really what I thought was how nice it would be to be staying in St. Thomas longer with Yanira.”

About the Proposal

Anthony was excited to propose to Yanira rain or shine. He even set up a surprise celebration after with close friends and family some flying in from out of state. On the morning of, the rain was evident but the plan was to embrace the rain with umbrellas. Everything went according to plan! See the photos here:
