How they met
“We went to college together. I was 3 years older than her so we didn’t get to meet in college but we met after it because we had mutual friends. We have been dating for a year and 3 months! “

I met my husband in college too through friends! I think it’s one of the best ways to meet your spouse!

About their first date
Matt: “Our first date actually ended up turning into the entire weekend together. We went to STK in meatpacking and ate dinner on the rooftop. I had a summer house in LBI that year so I actually brought her down with me and we spent the whole weekend together going out on the jet ski, meeting friends out on the sandbar, going to nice dinners and spending quality time together.”

That sounds like a perfect weekend to me!

What they love to do together
“We love traveling together. Since we’ve been dating, we’ve been to Orlando twice, Key West twice, Tulum, Miami and we have a Mediterranean cruise planned for May of 2022!”

Why April is so special to Matt
“I’ve never in my life met someone who is so easy going and doesn’t care what we do; as long as where we’re with each other, we have fun. I loved her after our first date. She is the most caring, loving down to earth person I have ever met. She is my best friend and the love of my life. ”

Why Matt choose this place to propose
“We always walk our dog Layla around Pier A and it has such beautiful views. Layla means the world to us so it’s only fitting that Layla is involved in the proposal process at her favorite spot.”

That moment Matt knew April was the one
“I was honestly in love with her only a month or so into our relationship. I knew she was the one after she spent quality time with my mom over last year’s holiday season. We spent 10 days with my mom and my mom fell in love with her too. Seeing how well they connected meant the world to me. ”

Family means so much and I believe is a great indicator of who you should end up with. April is truly beautiful inside and out, I could tell right from the beginning of meeting her!

About the Proposal
Matt knew immediately where he wanted to propose to April. It was super meaningful to him because they go there all the time to walk their dog Layla. We were a little worried about the weather but thankfully on the day of the weather was sunny and as warm as it could be for December! Matt also knew that he wanted Layla to be there when he popped the question. He told me that he was going to put the white bandana on Layla which said “Will you marry my dad?” and that would be the signal when he was going to propose!
