12th Street Waterfront Hoboken Proposal
This 12th Street waterfront Hoboken proposal went off perfectly! Sal proposed to Kim in this perfect city backdrop. Read all about the day and their story here.
.
How they met
Sal: “We previously worked for a real estate company down in the Financial District together (no longer working there), and started dating October 2018″
.
About their first date
Sal: “Our first date was at Industry Kitchen in Manhattan. Our plan was dinner, but the restaurant was packed so we ended up finding a seat outdoors, ordered a couple of drinks, a pizza, and just talked to each other for hours. It was an amazing first date because the chemistry was there immediately.”
.
What they love to do together
“We love to eat! Definitely foodies of sorts. We also love outdoor activities and traveling, especially when we can combine the two! Her favorite place is LBI because she has so many amazing memories there with her family & friends. I would say for me would be Charleston, South Carolina, which we are visiting together this September :)”
Food and traveling is the best!! Charleston sounds amazing 🙂
.
Why Kim is so special to Sal
“Kim is an amazing partner. She is so generous, kind, funny, beautiful, and the list goes on. I knew Kim was different when all I wanted to do was be with her, spend time with her, and get to know her more. What has been so special (and unique honestly) about our relationship is our ability to grow stronger together regardless of bad or good times. Knowing Kim has been the biggest treasure of my life – I am so very lucky!”
This is so sweet!!
.
Why Sal choose this place to propose
“Kim’s grandmother recently passed away, and a favorite restaurant of hers (Elysian Cafe) holds a lot of memories for Kim and her Nanna. I knew I wanted to go there afterwards to honor Nanna with her family & mine, to celebrate our engagement. So…I knew I had to propose close by and who does not love the NYC skyline? :)”
I love how Sal honored her grandmother and also had the family involved in this once in a lifetime moment. The day ended up being so perfect and we were able to walk to Elysian Cafe right after the proposal for some gorgeous shots.

Their Song
The Bones by Maren Morris
We’re in the homestretch of the high times
We took a hard left
But we’re alright
Yeah, life sure can try to put love through it, but
We built this right, so nothing’s ever gonna move itWhen the bones are good, the rest don’t matter
Yeah, the paint could peel, the glass could shatter
Let it break ’cause you and I remain the same
When there ain’t a crack in the foundation
Baby, I know any storm we’re facing
Will blow right over while we stay put
The house don’t fall when the bones are goodCall it dumb luck, but baby, you and I
Can’t even mess it up although we both try
No, it don’t always go the way we planned it
But the wolves came and went and we’re still standingWhen the bones are good, the rest don’t matter
Yeah, the paint could peel, the glass could shatter
Let it break ’cause you and I remain the same
When there ain’t a crack in the foundation
Baby, I know any storm we’re facing
Will blow right over while we stay put
The house don’t fall when my bones are good
When the bones are goodBones are good, the rest, the rest don’t matter
(Baby, it don’t really matter)
Paint could peel, the glass could shatter
(Oh, the glass, oh, the glass could shatter)
Bones are good, the rest, the rest don’t matter (Ooh)
Paint could peel, the glass, the glass could shatter (Yeah)When the bones are good, the rest don’t matter
Yeah, the paint could peel, the glass could shatter
Let it break (Let it break, let it break)
‘Cause you and I remain the same (Woo)
When there ain’t a crack in the foundation (Woo)
Baby, I know any storm we’re facing
Will blow right over while we stay put
The house don’t fall when the bones are good

That moment Sal knew Kim was the one
“It is actually pretty funny, our very first kiss, a gay couple approached us and said how beautiful we were together and that they hoped we have 10 kids (yes, actually said 10 kids!), to which Kim replied that this was literally our first time kissing haha! They were embarrassed but we all laughed and Kim and I still laugh about it. But… the first time I knew she was the one… Honestly, the first time I said I loved her, we were on a hike, I waited until we reached the peak and I remember holding her close and telling her how much she meant to me, how lucky I was to meet her, and that I loved her with my whole heart.”
Awww, this is my absolute favorite thing to read! When I met Sal and Kim I could see how much he adored her, it is simply beautiful.

About the Proposal
A few weeks ago, Sal contacted me to start planning how to make this proposal special. He wanted to decorate the spot where he would ask Kim to marry him. Thankfully both of their families helped to make it extra special with champagne and flowers. The plan was for the family to set up the spot and then hide while Sal proposed. We were a little worried about the day as it looked like it was going to rain and it actually did on and off. Fortunately, the moment Sal brought Kim to the location it wasn’t and I was able to capture these lovely moments for them:

Family
I love it when family comes to show their support for my couples! Both Kim and Sal’s families were such a joy to photograph and they came out bells loudly chiming to congratulate the couple and share champagne to celebrate!
