A South Street Seaport Proposal
.
Dylan proposed and Elizabeth said yes!! This NYC proposal near the South Street Seaport was simply perfect! Dylan wanted to make this moment special and he definitely pulled it off! Elizabeth was so surprised 🙂
.
About their story
Elizabeth and Dylan met when they were very young about 6 years old! (How sweet is that??) Dylan’s first memory was sledding in his neighborhood, afterwards Liz and all their friends coming over for pizza. They went to school together from elementary school up until high school! Although Elizabeth and Dylan didn’t start dating until after the end of junior year in high school, they have been going strong ever since! They event went to college together at Indiana University (Go Hoosiers!!).
.
About their first date
According to Dylan: “Our first ‘date’ was when I had her come to my house to ‘tutor’ her / help her with her algebra 2 or pre-calculus homework. I was the math nerd and she was struggling in math. She ended up doing pretty well in her classes and we ended up together so it was a win-win!”
Awww, and who knew where that tutoring session would lead to today!?
.
What they love to do together
We love to explore the City. We enjoy long walks around Battery Park and the West Side Highway and always wrap them up with a celebratory glass of wine. We enjoy exploring different breweries, wineries and new restaurants. We also love to travel and have been all over the US, Europe and the Caribbean together.
.
Traveling is also one of my husband Dan and our passion as well 🙂
.
What makes Elizabeth so special to Dylan
“Liz is extremely loving and supportive. Through all of the ups and downs over the years and even my sometimes crazy career, she has always been there by my side encouraging me to be the best I can be. We have a strong connection and I know we have a bright future ahead of us.”
.
Why Dylan choose this place to propose
He chose the South Street Seaport area because it’s close to home for them They have lived in FiDi (Financial District) for 3 plus years. Dylan says: “We love the area and although we may move away from Fidi, I wanted to keep it a special place for us forever.”
.
The time when Dylan knew Elizabeth was the one
“I remember my fears when she told me she was committing to Indiana University. I really didn’t want her to go there because everyone said the only way we would ever last is if we didn’t go to college together. Well everyone turned out wrong and I couldn’t have imagined going to college without her – It was perfect! We had our own unique but overlapping experiences and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
Oh my goodness, how sweet is that?

About the Proposal
Dylan wanted to make this moment was super special for Elizabeth. He went searching for a quiet place in the South Street Seaport area and was able to find one with the help of family. He planned to go for drinks casually before heading to the spot and Elizabeth was super surprised. Dylan even planned for both of their families to be there waiting for them right after he popped the question!
.
My husband Dan and I were waiting for that moment when Dylan would drop to his knee. The timing was perfect, see the sweet moments here:
.
I absolutely love when couples invite their family and friends to events like these. Family is so important and the support they give is the best!
.
To remember the time of COVID, they took one fun photo with their masks on 🙂
.
Of course we took some lovely portraits of them as well, here are just a few:
.
Congratulations Elizabeth and Dylan on your engagement in the South Street Seaport in NYC! My husband Dan and I couldn’t be happier for you both!
