A Brooklyn Bridge Park Proposal
.
This Brooklyn Bridge Park proposal was one for the books! Chrissi and Ryan are two peas in a pod and I am so happy I had a chance to meet them and tell their story. Read more about their day here.
.
How they met
Ryan: “We met at a friends Christmas Party. We both had mutual friends with the host of the party. The mutual friends we had were very far removed from each other though so the odds that we would’ve met somewhere else or in another setting would have been highly highly unlikely. We also actually both didn’t originally intend on going to the party but she had a friend visiting and wanted to take her around the city and I also somehow found my way there with my roommates. We started talking at the party and as the party died down a bit, we decided to go another bar to continue our conversations because we were having so much fun together. I was able to get her number and we started dating in December 2018 so we have dated for a little less than 3 years.”

Some moments are meant to be and I’m so glad they met at the right moment!
.
About their first date
.
Outside of our mini first date at the bar after the Christmas party that we met, we met up again two weeks later at a restaurant in East Village (Huertas) where we got to know each other a bit better.
.
What they love to do together
We recently got a puppy (her name is Tuwa) together so that’s been our pride and joy for the last year and we love going on walks around Brooklyn with her. Otherwise we are both into running so we love going on runs together around Prospect Park and Fort Greene Park. We also both enjoy dessert, probably too much so we’re both always on the lookout for ice cream, chocolate, and bubble tea!
.
I love reading when couples do activities together, I definitely can relate to the ice cream and dessert!
.
Why Chrissi is so special to Ryan
“Honestly I clicked with Chrissi from the first day we met. We had a lot of the same ambitions and same goals in life both personally and professionally. What stood out to me the most when we met though is how compassionate and genuine she was towards others including random strangers.”
.
I was able to see that kindness shine through Chrissi throughout our time together. She is truly sweet and humble!
.
Why Ryan choose this place to propose
“I wanted to incorporate the NYC backdrop into my proposal because this city has played such a big role in our relationship. Chrissi is from the Philippines and I’m from Philadelphia and we had both been living in NYC for a few years before meeting. Being that her home is so far away, we always talk about how crazy it was that we met in a city filled with so many people and that we met at some random Christmas party! We love NYC for those reasons and that it was able to bring us together.”
Ryan choose the perfect place, see the photos below!

That moment Ryan knew Chrissi was the one
“I realized it pretty quickly. But one moment specifically that happened probably like 2-3 months into dating was that we were at her apartment and I had just come over after work and we were making dinner together. While we were waiting for the dinner to finish cooking, we randomly hugged in the living room and we both didn’t let go for a long time. It just felt like there was a moment between us. It was shortly after this moment that I told her that I loved her for the first time.”
.
I love reading about these moments. I think it’s so beautiful how one ordinary moment can become so much more then they could possibly imagine!
.
About the Proposal
Ryan contacted me a while ago because he knew that he wanted to propose to Chrissi before they moved to California! We went back and forth on the date because it had to be before they left and also the weather was up in the air. Ryan decided he was going to do it rain or shine and even though it looked it was going to rain and the sun magically came out! See all the photos of the day:

Brooklyn Bridge Park Portraits
After the proposal, I was able to take some photos of Chrissi and Ryan. As a typical New York moment, a movie was being shot at the Brooklyn Carousel but we were able to get some beautiful shots anyway! Here are a few of my favorites!
.
Congratulations Chrissi and Ryan on your Brooklyn Bridge Park proposal! Thank you for choosing me to be part of your one in a lifetime event! I couldn’t be happier for you both
