A Pier C Hoboken Proposal

How special was Courtney & Victor’s Hoboken proposal on Pier C? Despite being at the end of of winter, it couldn’t have been more perfect! Could I do a proposal every day? Yes, I think I could!

Their Story

Courtney and Victor met at Hoboken Grace, a local community church. It’s so funny how things happen, when you least expect it. They had been both attending a while, seeing each other on Sunday and exchanging smiles and greetings. It wasn’t until the Thanksgiving dinner at Hoboken Grace in 2016 that they officially met.

Even before going on official dates, Victor pursued a friendship with Courtney. They would meet for tea at Kung Fu Tea on Washington St in Hoboken. After Victor moved abroad to Chile for most of 2017, he came back and declared his intentions to date Courtney via WhatsApp weeks before returning home, which Courtney at first was hesitant for.

Victor came back just in time for the Hoboken Grace Gala and that’s when he started falling for her. Although they don’t have any pictures together from that night, Victor vividly remembers how stunning Courtney looked! (How sweet is that?? Seriously dying over here.) After the Gala, they went for ice cream at Jun’s Macaron Gelato and Victor stated his intentions to date Courtney in person. It just goes to show, how persistence really pays off! (Hats off to you Victor!)

What they love to do together

Victor: “Courtney and I really enjoy going to breweries and meaderies. Craft beer and mead are things we love to drink together. Also, we like food (a lot), enjoy traveling to places and watching shows. Lastly, we love serving our community together and plan on doing it together indefinitely.”

What makes Courtney so special to Victor

“Courtney’s a natural giver. She’s a giver of love, time, energy, and gifts. Courtney’s ability to serve others is one thing that makes her special to me. Courtney will never stop loving those around her.”

I am actually friends with Courtney, and I can attest to all of this!!

Why Victor choose the location for Proposing

“I chose Pier C for various reasons. The first reason is that it’s a beautiful scene. The New York skyline is seen perfectly from Hoboken island. The second reason is that it’s in Hoboken — a city that will always be dear to our hearts (we met, served, fell in love in Hoboken). Lastly, and this is just a personal reason, I’ve spent a lot of time in and around this pier often thinking what God had in store for me, what my future would look like, and with who I would share that future with. Now that I know who that person is, I thought it would be an ideal location to propose.”

How Victor knew Courtney was the one (you have to read this!)

“I was convinced that I wanted to marry Courtney when I was away from her for 2 weeks in Nov-Dec of 2018. I traveled to Italy and Greece with my mother and couldn’t understand why I had this feeling of emptiness while I was in two of the most beautiful cities on the planet. I felt like I wasn’t enjoying my vacation fully because the women I was in love with wasn’t there to share the experience with my mother and me. It was during this vacation that I decided to pursue marriage with Courtney. My mother was excited to hear this from me and said I should’ve made this decision a long time ago.”

The Proposal

It was just the end of winter and the weather was actually warmer then expected. Victor had planned the whole event weeks in advance, making sure to have every detail covered. He told Courtney they were going to a birthday dinner for someone in the family and be dressed up and ready to go. He suggested, why don’t we stop by the Pier on our way over since we have some time. She had no idea!! All of the sudden Victor is down on his knee and Courtney couldn’t believe it. She cried and laughed and rejoiced!!
