A November Central Park Proposal
Joseph asked Jennifer to marry him in this epic November Central Park proposal! If you have ever watched When Harry Met Sally (if not you must!), I felt like we were in a movie, it was stunning! Read all about their day here.
.
How they met
Joseph: “We met in college at UMBC. I tutored her for a physics class we were taking. We have been dating for 11 years! Multiple years of long distance and my career/training have delayed this day long enough. This November 14th will be our 12th year!”
.
I love it, I actually met my husband in college too! Joseph was so amazing to also propose on their 12th year anniversary!!
.
About their first date
Joseph: “She’s gonna kill me because I’m not sure! It may have been an Owl City concert at UMBC; after we first started dating, 2 months later we got snowed in together during the 2010 blizzard in the DC area.”
.
Hey it’s hard in college to remember! Too fun, I love Owl City too!
.
What they love to do together
“Travel for sure! We’re always looking to get away somewhere. Our birthdays and summer are becoming frequent travel dates . But it doesn’t have to be far from home; we love going to new and old spots around the city, which is what makes living in NYC exciting for us. Locally, Central Park is definitely top 3. At longer distances, we’ve visited California the most but I think Paris will always be number one.”
.
Traveling is the best!! I think Central Park will now be one of their favorite spots now for sure!
.
Why Jennifer is so special to Joseph
“Her kindness and empathy. She’s the best compliment to my mostly robotic brain. I’ve become a better human because of her. I also love that we can both be exceptionally weird around each other. There isn’t a filter or mask we need to put on; we can be our truest selves. This feeling began really early in our relationship and drew us closer together very quickly ..She’s made me a better person, and we’ve endured a lot of distance between us for various reasons but I don’t want to finish my life without her. ”
.
I could see how amazing Jennifer was when I met her!! I’m so happy Joseph found such a beautiful gem!
.
Why Joseph choose this place to propose
“Central Park holds many smaller memories for us ever since we moved into the city together and I’d like for there to be a big one! The area I’ve chosen is one that we don’t frequent that often; she wanted something kind of private and I’ve always envisioned proposing overlooking some greenery or landscape . I think this a good mix of those choices :)”
.
Yes, I’m sure Central Park will be one of their favorite places now!! Joseph picked the perfect spot, see the photos below!
.
That moment Joseph knew Jennifer was the one
“You know that Taylor Swift song, “You Are In Love” where she sings,.“You can hear it in the silence,You can feel it on the way home,You can see it with the lights out,You are in love”.I felt this on the way back from our first “getaway” trip to Richmond, VA; easiest thing we could afford being 2 college students..It’s past midnight as we’re racing back home, so we can get enough sleep before our early classes. We’re singing songs to stay awake. We make it home under the cover of night, get clean, and ready for bed. And it was then, that I felt it – that buzzing, thrumming energy in the air while I was holding her close in our twin bed (sleeping like sardines, we would call it)..It feels like a reassurance, “This is where I am supposed to be. Home is being right next to this person.”.I still see it. I still feel it. It changes frequencies every once in a while but after 11 years, it’s still there.”
.
Oh my gosh, how romantic!! I love how real Joseph is and I can definitely see the love he has for Jennifer!
.
About the Proposal
Joseph knew he wanted to propose to Jennifer in Central Park but he wanted to also choose the perfect backdrop. To not give any suspicion to Jennifer, he went on a very long run to scout out the locations. He was very clever and told Jennifer that they were going to do a photoshoot with their dog Beebo, their small Maltese poodle, for holiday photos. Since Joseph told Jennifer it was a holiday photoshoot with their dog, she knew ahead of time and was able to get her hair and makeup done which just enhanced her beauty for the photos. It also was the perfect day because they were celebrating their 12 year anniversary as a couple!
.
On the day of, I was a bit worried it would be a bit cloudy and we would miss that perfect sunset so I texted Joseph if we could meet a little earlier. Well, I didn’t have to worry at all because despite the November chill (which wasn’t too bad), the beautiful sun came out which made the afternoon have that beautiful golden glow!! We started on the famous Bow Bridge in Central Park and made our way to Shakespeare Garden which is where Joseph proposed!!! I’ll actually start with the portraits since that is what we did first.

November Central Park Portraits
Every time I go to Central Park, I’m in aww. Although it was a bit cold on this day, it made for gorgeous portraits as it was at sunset. The couple, the location, everything was stunning. I’m just a little obsessed!
