A surprise 12th Street Pier Hoboken Proposal
This surprise 12th Street pier Hoboken proposal was such a treat!  Jessica and Bart knew each other since elementary school but it wasn’t until years later that they found each other again. Read more about the day and their story here.

How they met
Bart: “Jessica and I have known each other since we were little kids in elementary school!  We grew up in the same neighborhood with the same friends, spending our days playing games like manhunt and kickball (secretly both crushing on each other).  I remember playfully teasing her on the school bus, and being on the swing set together.  Eventually she ended up moving to a different town before starting high school, and we had little contact afterwards. But after I graduated college, I messaged her and we reconnected, and have been inseparable since we started dating 5 years ago.”
.
I think it’s so sweet how Bart and Jessica met when they were just kids! It’s so beautiful that they met years later and I could definitely see the sparks between them on the big day.
.
About their first date
Bart: “We went out for drinks and spent all night  reminiscing all of our favorite childhood memories and catching up on everything that has happened since we last saw each other!  We talked about everything and had such a good time. We still talk about how much fun we had that night.”
.
What they love to do together
“We love to travel and some of our most memorable moments are from the places we visited. Our favorite places include Puerto Vallarta, Isla Mujeres, Boston, and Cali.  Nothing gets us more excited than a good adventure! We also love going to the beach, hiking, sporting events and finding new restaurants.”
.
I agree completely, traveling so so much fun! I’m sure Bart and Jessica can’t want to travel more now with everything opening up 🙂

Why Jessica is so special to Bart
“Jessica is such a sweet person and everyone who meets her loves her. My family is crazy about her. She is beautiful, has the best sense of humor, and  is so down-to-earth.  I have watched her grow and mature as she went through Grad school these past few years, and she continues to amaze me with her work ethic and dedication.  She is also so supportive of me and is my number one fan & best friend.”
.
This is one of my favorite things to hear about when I photograph proposals! It’s so sweet to see how much Bart cares for Jessica!
.
Why Bart choose this place to propose
“We love visiting Hoboken and have nothing but good memories there. The proposal location has incredible views of the NYC skyline, and I knew it would be the perfect place for such a memorable day.”
Hoboken is one of my favorite places too. We were so thankful the weather was beautiful besides the heat!
.
That moment Bart knew Jessica was special:
“After our first date, she sent me a picture of us when we were kids. In that moment I had a feeling that we were destined to be together after all those years apart, and that God brought this special person back in my life for a reason.  My life was so much better with her in it, and I knew she was the one very early on.”
Awww, how cute is that? I love that Jessica had a picture of them when they were in elementary school! How would have known that they would get together years later?

About the Proposal
Bart planned the whole day for Jessica and was super sneaky and made sure her nails were done too! He wanted to propose before going on a dinner cruise to celebrate after with Jessica’s sister Melissa and her boyfriend Guiseppe. I got there early to scope out the location and thankfully there weren’t too many people out, although that may have been due to the heat wave. When they got to the place, they had Melissa and Guiseppe with them which was so fun! It took a few minutes for Bart to get down on his knee and I wasn’t sure when it was going to happen but I was ready. Here’s the beautiful moments that were captured.
.
After the proposal we took some portraits, these are a few of my favorites!
.
Family and Friends
I love it when clients bring their families and friends to support the couple. We had to take a few fun ones with Jessica’s sister Melissa and her boyfriend Guiseppe 🙂
.
Congratulations Jessica and Bart on your surprise 12th St pier proposal in Hoboken! I couldn’t be happier for you both and wish you a lifetime of happiness!
