A summer 12th Street Pier Hoboken Proposal
This summer 12th Street pier Hoboken proposal was simply perfect! Adrianna and Richard actually knew each other since high school but it wasn’t until later when they met again at the Dublin House where sparks began to fly! Read more about the day and their story here.
How they met
Richard: “Adrianna and I actually knew each other in high school. We both ran track, I knew her as “Taco,” and she knew me as “Dickie” or “Bohny.” Our groups of friends were very close, but we never directly communicated. Two of our good friends from that high school group are now together. Those friends now live in Mississippi, but flew home around Christmas to see family and friends. Adrianna and I both went out to the Dublin House to see those friends. After that night we began “talking,” went on our first date a couple months later, and officially started dating that summer.
It is about two and a half years since we ran into each other that fateful night at the Dublin House.”
Those nicknames are too funny! It’s so crazy how you never know a person you met before could be such a big part of your future. I’m sure Adrianna and Richard never suspected how things would turn out!
About their first date
Richard: “Our first date was at the Robinson Ale House in Red Bank, NJ. We sat at the bar for lunch because college basketball was on (March Madness). I subsequently went home to watch the Villanova game with my parents – Villanova lost. Adrianna has since become an avid supporter of Villanova basketball.”
I believe it’s so great when a couple unites on routing for the same team!! It is always a great sign 🙂
What they love to do together
“We very much enjoy cooking in our apartment together. We also enjoy going down to the Jersey Shore. One of our favorite places is the Parker House. We have met a number of each other’s friends and family at the Parker House. We also enjoy spending time at each other’s family’s houses in Hazlet, Holmdel and Bayhead.”
Family is so important! I think it’s really beautiful that already Adrianna and Richard prioritize family and friends. It was evident at the proposal how important family was to them!
Why Adrianna is so special to Richard
“Adrianna is one of the most caring people you will ever meet. She is beautiful, has a fantastic sense of humor, and a great dancer. She never feels uncomfortable in new situations, and makes everyone around her feel welcome. Whether you met Adrianna 5 minutes or 15 years ago, if she is able to help in anyway she is quick to volunteer.”
I love hearing what drew Richard to Adrianna. It’s one of my favorite things to read about and it’s so true, I could tell Adrianna was going to be super fun when I met her!
Why Richard choose this place to propose
“Adrianna and I had some of our first dates in Hoboken. It is where we would meet for weekdays dinners when I still lived in NYC and she lived in Hazlet. Our first home together is in Hoboken, and we have walked/run up and down the waterfront a number of times, always remarking on how great the view is. Asking her to marry me in a city we grew together just felt right. We also have a number of family members and friends who live very close by and could not wait to celebrate with everyone.”
It’s so perfect when a couple picks a place that means so much to them. You really can’t beat that view in Hoboken of the NYC skyline!
That moment Richard knew Adrianna was special
“Adrianna met my sister, Beth, at the Parker House before we officially began dating. She was having a great time with her friends, which included their traditional belt limbo across the basement. Beth turned to me and said “Richie, what have you been doing, that girl is amazing. I love her” – maybe I didn’t realize exactly what would happen, but I knew there was something special.”
I love that it was a moment that Richard’s sister Beth pointed out that really made him think about how special Adrianna is!
About the Proposal
Richard planned this way in advance to make sure all the details were perfect including that the family could be there. He really wanted to make it special to Adrianna and it truly was! I met with Richard a few days before to pick the location and also to talk about a backup in case it rained at Bin 14. (He was super prepared!) It actually did rain on the day of but the forecast showed a sunny afternoon which it thankfully was!
My husband Dan and I got there early and were glad to see not too many people out at the 12th street pier in Hoboken and thankfully the ground wasn’t wet!! It truly couldn’t have gone any better, see all the beautiful moments here.
She was surprised to say the least!
Family
It’s so evident how important family was to them and I’m so glad we were able to take these to celebrate Adrianna and Richard’s engagement. The family was extra prepared and even had champagne glasses to rejoice!
These ones are too cute!
After these fun family photos, we had time to take some of just Adrianna and Richard!

Thank you so so much for capturing the most amazing day of our lives. Both you and Dan are absolutely incredible photographers (and people). Richie and I are so grateful that you two were there on that special day. It’s so funny that Richie must have known I stalked you on Instagram.
