A 12th Street Pier Hoboken Proposal
This 12th Street Pier Hoboken Proposal was so perfect! Ashley was so surprised, she did not expect it at all! Dan did such a great job pulling this off especially having family and friends there to witness this special event! Here’s more about the day and their story!
How they met
Dan: “We had been dating for 4 and a half years. Ironically we were friends in college, that is where we met but we didn’t actually date in college. I recommended to her that she interview for the company I was working for (we both work for the same company to this day!) and she took an interview and got the job. When Ashley started working at Insight Global (the company we work for) we rekindled our friendship and became close friends just knowing each other from the past. It was towards the latter part of 2014 that we were both single and we started to get closer and spent more time with one another. We started talking and after about 6 months we made it more official and actually started dating.”
I love it when couples are friends first! I believe it definitely builds a strong foundation for the relationship. When friendship blossoms into love, it is truly special!
About their first date
Dan: “Our first date was a New York Rangers hockey game. I played hockey growing up and always loved the Rangers. When we started dating, Ashley didn’t know anything about hockey nor had she ever been to a hockey game. I got tickets for us and it was our first ever date and it was a good one. We have been to a bunch of games since then so our first date really secured Ashley as a Rangers fan.”
This is a great way to ensure your future wife will be the same fan as you! I’m sure it was fun and exciting especially since it was Ashley’s first hockey game.
What they love to do together
“We love to travel and many of the best memories we have together are from the places we’ve traveled to. We’ve been to France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Mexico, the Bahamas, soon to be Italy and many different cities across the US. We also love our home in Hoboken. Hoboken has been a special place for us and where our relationship has grown and developed over the course of the last 4 years. We both also love sports and like to go to sporting events together, New York Rangers hockey games, Yankees baseball games and New York Giants football games. Experiences are our favorite and as our relationship has flourished we have given each other experiences as gifts (plane tickets, surprise broadway show tickets, sporting tickets) rather than tangible gifts and it’s so special because we have so many incredible memories.”
How special is that? Traveling the world with the one you love by your side! I can imagine how many incredible memories Ashley and Dan have shared all over the world and so many more to come!
Why Ashley is so special to Dan
“Ashley has the biggest heart out of anyone I’ve ever met. She is so selfless and caring to everyone she meets that it’s hard to not love someone like her. With all of the time we’ve spent with each other over the years and all the great experiences and trips we’ve had to share, she has evolved into my best friend and the person I want to spend most of my time with. It was an easy decision to decide to spend the rest of my life with her and I can’t wait to see where life takes us next.”
Oh my gosh, how sweet is that?? Ashley is so blessed to be marrying her best friend Dan.
Why Dan choose this place to propose
“We recently moved in to our first apartment together in uptown Hoboken so the pier behind our home was the perfect choice to pop the question. I know it’s a place that means a lot to Ashley and knew the views of the city would be a great background for all of the pictures.”
About the Proposal
I actually met with Dan a few days before to pick the perfect location, so I knew exactly where he was going to propose. (Extra points for Dan for arranging this way ahead of time!) On the day, my husband (who’s name is Dan as well) and I got there early to scout the location. The weather was perfect and I was a little worried there would be so many people their because Pier 13 is close by and it was super crowded! Thankfully, there wasn’t too many people on the 12th St pier in Hoboken. I told my husband Dan to ask people to move if they were in the way at the time. Even though people came at that moment, we were able to capture Ashley and Dan’s proposal perfectly, see the photos below. Photographing a proposal with my husband Dan was the best way to spend a Saturday! #ilovemyjob
Family and Friends
I loved being able to take these photos of Ashley’s family and friends! You could tell how excited they were for this momentous occasion. They came super prepared even with champagne!
They’re engaged!
